In April 2008, ten WWII Veterans from Iowa accompanied a Missouri Honor Tour to Washington D.C. to see their Memorial.

The impact was so great, when they returned, they vowed to help more Iowa Veterans see their Memorial.

Thus, the S.E. Iowa WWII Veterans Honor Tour was born.
